Discover Béziers

Béziers is the capital of the vast and wealthy Languedoc vineyards. Perched on an outcrop overlooking the River Orb and the Canal du Midi, the city is topped by a fortified cathedral visible from afar. The city lights up in August during the Feria and still harbours nostalgia for its legendary rugby team.

Yet, it hasn't turned its back on the future, as evidenced by the new “Quartier Latin” which was built around the media library designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.

Discover the highlights of Béziers, from the town centre to the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In Béziers, you'll enjoy:

  • Stocking up on food at the covered market. If you go to the Gargotte des Halles, you can have anything you bought on the market cooked, grilled or roasted.
  • Strolling through the alleys of the Plateau des Poètes, a 5-hectare garden designed by the Bühler brothers, famous landscape artists of the late 19th century.
  • Discovering the hidden treasures of Béziers during a leisurely e-bike ride.
  • Visiting Béziers by kayak to discover its monuments along the River Orb.
  • A picnic cruise on the Canal du Midi, while experiencing the thrill of navigating through the staircase of locks at Fonséranes.
