Villfranche-de-Rouergue

1 hour from Rodez. Stop : place de la Liberté or SNCF train station Villefranche-de-Rouergue has noble origins, founded in 1252 by the brother of King Saint-Louis

The town has preserved its original layout as a bastide town founded in the 12th century, arranged around its central square. A major site in the Occitanie region, Villefranche-de-Rouergue boasts a remarkable heritage. It's well worth a long stop. Continue on to Montauban by coach, or take a train to join the Bastides line and go all the way to Toulouse.

Caylus

45 minutes from Villfranche-de-Rouergue or 1 hour 20 from Montauban. Stop: Centre. This medieval village nestles in the hollow of the Bonnette Valley. It's an idyllic transition between Aveyron and Tarn-et-Garonne.
