MUSEE DU VERRE YVES BLAQUIERE
SOREZE , Tarn – Kulturelles Erbe
Über uns
This unique Sorèze Glass Museum features a magnificent collection of glass objects from Languedoc (17th, 18th and 19th centuries, some of which are listed as Historic Monuments), as well as drinking glasses. A temporary exhibition is held every season.
Sorèze is home to a unique glass museum, housed in the town former hospice built under Charles X (mid 19th century). The museum was founded in 1996 by Yves Blaquière, a glass and history enthusiast. The association ‘Les Amis de Sorèze’, which was set up in 1998, manages the museum with the help of the town council and organises exhibitions and conferences. The museum currently contains more than 3,000 pieces of glass – from Antiquity to the mid-twentieth century – acquired thanks to a carefully thought-out purchasing policy and the generosity of numerous donors. The museum collections are characterised by two main features: drinking glasses from the 17th to the 19th centuries, and blue-green glass from Languedoc. The Museum has been awarded ‘Valeurs Parc’ label by the Park Natuel Régional du Haut-Laguedoc.
