The town hall, in place of this beautiful, imposing 19th-century residence, occupies a strategic position in the historic centre, on the market square, just a few metres from the fortified church. Acquired by Pierre Gradet and Suzanne Poque, whose family included two Luz town councillors, it was subsequently sold to the Order of Malta before becoming public property. Distinguishes public figures and Pyreneans have walked the floors of the building, were Napoleon III held meetings in the dining-room, in particular a council of ministers. The museum area is a tribute to the Emperor and Empress Eugenie, who transformed the spa district of Saint-Sauveur during the Second Empire by demanding the construction of prestigious buildings. New items were added to the collection as the inhabitants discovered and donated: a sedan chair used to take bathers to the spa, a pharmacopoeia proving the support from the imperial couple to philanthropic organisations… > Free admission all year round, Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm.
