Village de Saramon
SARAMON , Gers – Eredità culturale
Chi siamo
The town of Saramon developed in the 9th century around a priory belonging to the Sorèze abbey.
In the 14th century, the town was granted a charter of customs. Having become a fortified town, it protected the Count of Astarac, who had taken refuge there.
In the 19th century, several towers and the town’s two gates were demolished due to their dilapidated state; a few vestiges of one of them, the Porte de la Brèche, remain.
On site, you can visit the Romanesque church with its 18th-century Baroque altarpiece in gilded wood and the chapel of the Sacred Heart, the Renaissance houses, the Porte de la Brèche, the central square with its cutlery…
