Imponente e maestosa nella sua cornice verde, l’abbazia fu fondata sotto Carlo Magno nel 779. Era la più grande abbazia del dipartimento e oggi è uno dei suoi più bei tesori architettonici. Di fronte alla città medievale, annoverata tra i “Borghi più belli di Francia”, questo imponente monumento benedettino incute rispetto e presenta un catalogo mozzafiato di architetture dall’VIII al XVIII secolo.
Scoprirete gli edifici essenzialmente medievali: il cortile della casa abbaziale, la cantina, il forno, le cappelle e i loro vestiboli, la sacrestia, il transetto nord, la torre preromanica, il deposito lapidario, la sala delle cerimonie e il dormitorio, parzialmente restaurato nel 2009.
