On the border between the departments of Aude and Haute-Garonne, Port Lauragais is bordered by the greenway running alongside the Canal du Midi. After a few pedal strokes in the direction of Castelnaudary, you can admire the Naurouze sill, a major feature of the Canal du Midi’s water supply system: this is where the water from the Canal du Midi’s springs flows down from the Montagne Noire, thanks to the Rigole de la Plaine.
Port Lauragais is also a rest area on the A61 motorway. Holidaymakers on their way to the Mediterranean Sea can stop off here for a breath of fresh air along the canal.
