Les Concluses de Lussan

LUSSAN , Gard – Patrimonio natural

Acerca de nosotros

The Concluses are a series of long natural gorges and a rocky corridor carved out over time by the Aiguillon river. You’ll have an exceptional view of the “marmites du Diable” and the chance to encounter a remarkable ecosystem.

Situated 5 km north of Lussan on the road to Verfeuil, the Concluses de Lussan are an exceptional site with an abrupt, lunar appearance… The Concluses are both a series of long, wild gorges, and a rocky defile carved out over time by the Aiguillon, a small river that is dry in summer, but fiery and impetuous during heavy rainfall, mainly in autumn… We strongly advise against venturing out alone during these brief periods.
From the top of the path leading to the “portal”, the view is extraordinary: rocky escarpments, cavities in the riverbed, known as “marmites du Diable”, and rocky chaos give the full measure and splendour of the site… From the parking lot, it’s a 30-minute descent along the gorge, past cliffs streaked with holes and caverns, before finally reaching the “portal”, a gully of walls almost closed at the top, where the river flows through and which you cross on a footbridge. Once you’ve reached the bottom, you can enjoy the silence and beauty of this cathedral of rock.
