Gorges de la Vis

GORNIES , Hérault – Patrimonio natural

Acerca de nosotros

Between the spectacular high cliffs of Causse de Blandas and Montagne de la Séranne, the Vis winds its way through numerous tight meanders, perfect for dipping your toes in the water.

The Gorges de la Vis, dominated by the Seranne massif and the Causse de Blandas, form a canyon carved out of sedimentary rock, creating a landscape of cliffs and scree cones, caves and springs. The contrast between gorges and plateaus is conducive to rich biodiversity and a high-quality ecosystem. The Vis is a small, meandering river bordered by abundant vegetation and a tributary of the Hérault. In the course of its peregrinations, the Vis has carved out its bed in the middle of impressive limestone plateaus: the causses. Joined by the Virenque, both have continued their work to form a canyon known as the Gorges de Vis.
