Acerca de nosotros
Lahas is a small village surrounded by green landscapes and hills. Its calm and rural character make it an ideal place for those seeking authenticity and tranquility.
In the municipality of Lahas, you can discover the church of Saint-Abdon and Saint-Sennen.
In the municipality of Lahas, there is the chapel of Notre Dame de Dieussaide. Dieuzede can be written as Dieussaide or Dieucede. It was razed during the Revolution, then rebuilt from 1819 and restored in 1922. At one time, it had a certain reputation. It has the proportions of a countryside sanctuary, without any architectural character. We went there three times a year in procession: Rogations, Saint-Roch and the evening of All Saints’ Day. Inside the tabernacle, a small Piety from the Middle Ages has been found. It is currently kept in the treasury of Lombez. After its reconstruction, M. Boussès, parish priest of Lahas, sells his “many graces”, notably that of keeping away the plagues that threaten the crops. This building was classified as a historical monument in 1968. From an undefined source, the base of the bell tower must be old because it has a completely recessed stucco.
At the current location of the school, there once stood a castle, one of which still sees the traces of a ditch. Of this castle, there remains only a large bourgeois house. Another castle stood on the commune, at the level of the district of Oustal, today passed to Bézéril. It was the castle of the Dieuzaide family, knights mentioned in the 12th century in Samatan. In 1888, a treasure “consisting of 14 gold coins and 280 silver or billon, 80 meters from an old castle destroyed” of the Oustal “which belonged to the family of CEDE and last place at the hospital of Lombez. The treasure is said to have been buried in 1460” By E. Taillebois. Cazauran specified the location in 1889: at about 500m, at the south of Lahas. The castle disappeared was rebuilt in the 16th century on the commune of Bézéril. Debris from the old castle were used to build the current castle, now private. At a place called Tuco, stood a mill that was destroyed in the 20th century.
The castle of Lahas had a reputation for being haunted.
Gallo-Roman remains were discovered at a place called Le Tuco. Slabs, ciples and columns were discovered around 1835. According to Doctor Trémolières in 1935, shallow excavations were conducted under the slabs and showed a fragment of skull and segments of vase in fine red earth with ornaments.
In Lahas, there is also a miraculous spring named ‘Les Peyrettes’ meaning ‘small stones’. It flows at the site of an old church, in a place called Le Tuco. There is still a slab, a kind of tomb cover, between two terminals. The water that flowed from this source had healing virtues. People who suffered from eyes recovered the water accumulated in the small cavities of the slab and rubbed their eyes with it.
A type 2 ZNIEFF is listed in the municipality ‘Le cours de la Gimone et de la Marcaoue’ which covers 60 municipalities and extends over 3085 ha. This area constitutes a corridor that follows the Gimone and its tributary the Marcaoue consisting of the river, the ripisylve and associated flood plains. Natural floodable grasslands are the flagship habitat of this ZNIEFF.
