Port Vendres

PORT VENDRES , Pyrénées-Orientales – Point of interest

About

Port Vendres, busiest fishing harbour in Roussillon, marina and resort.

A traditional Catalan fortified town, Port-Vendres is lively all year round because of its role as a port. The marina of Port-Vendres is very popular with deep-sea sailors. It is mainland France’s closest port to the countries of North Africa and the Balearic Islands and is a popular port of call for cruise ships.

While you’re here, explore the marine reserve of the Côte Vermeille (‘Vermilion Coast’) and its undersea treasures, ramble around Paulilles cove, go out sea fishing, hire a boat or fish from the promenade: all the pleasures of a seaside resort are on hand.
Things to see & do:
– The pink marble obelisk raised in honour of King Louis XVI
– Fish auctions in the harbour from 4pm Monday-Friday.
