About
Situated 8 km from Montpellier, within the municipality of Lattes, the protected natural landscape of Méjean forms part of the greater Languedoc lagoon complex. The Méjean lagoon is bordered by the coastal municipalities of: Palavas les Flots, Carnon and Pérols, and is crossed by the Canal du Rhône à Sète. This is a meeting point between land and water managed by man, known as a wetland. Reed beds, marshes, mudflats and the lagoon create a patchwork landscape where bulls, horses and, of course, birds thrive over the seasons. These diverse environments are enormously important for the fauna and flora that find food and shelter here…
