About

Maurens is a village located in a peaceful rural environment, surrounded by fields and hills. With its tranquil atmosphere and traditional houses, it reflects the typical charm of the Gascon countryside.

In the town of Maurens, you can discover the church of Saint-Blaise.

Gallo-Roman remains were discovered in different parts of the commune of Maurens. A bronze lamp with a bull’s head was updated at a place called En Blanquet. At a place called Pouret, an intaglio has been found. It is a hard and fine stone, engraved in hollow to serve as a seal or seal. It can be presented alone or mounted as a ring, jewelry or part of an adornment. The carnelian intaglio, discovered in the commune of Maurens, depicted a fantastic figure, a composite animal dating from the 2nd half of the 1st century.

A feudal motte is also present in the commune, vestige of an old castle, whose foundations are under the current castle.

Behind the town hall of Maurens, there are the remains of an old castle that existed less than a century ago. This castle was partially destroyed during a fire in 1933. Today, there are only the stables that have been converted into houses as well as part of the castle park.
