Incorrectly called the “Roman Bridge,” this stone structure, slightly arched and spanning the Colagne River, likely built in the 14th century, remains, with its five arches, one of the most remarkable bridges in the Gévaudan region, despite a rather risky restoration in the mid-20th century. The Colagne bridge, a common crossing point between Languedoc and Auvergne, facilitated trade for centuries. In the background lies the Saint-Bonnet settlement, inhabited since the Neolithic period and later an oppidum during the Gallic and Roman eras. Excavations have revealed Gallo-Roman remains: amphorae, ceramics, coins, and jewelry. A dramatic landslide in 1974 displaced thousands of cubic meters of rubble and severely damaged the banks of the Colagne.
