Parc des Aigrettes

VAUVERT , Gard – Cultural heritage

About

Once a reclaimed landfill site, now transformed into a natural leisure area, the Parc des Aigrettes offers a pleasant stroll amongst ponds, reeds and bamboo. Children’s play areas, picnics and nature watching are sure to delight the whole family.

Situated on the banks of the Vistre, at the entrance to Vauvert, the Parc des Aigrettes is a landscaped natural area that combines the exploration of biodiversity with walking and outdoor leisure activities. Formerly known as the ZRV (Vegetated Discharge Area), this site plays an important ecological role whilst offering a pleasant setting for visitors.

As they stroll along its flat paths, which are accessible to all, walkers find themselves in the heart of a natural environment featuring bamboo, reeds, marsh irises, cattails and tall plane trees. The planted ponds are home to a variety of wildlife, including waterbirds, making the park an ideal spot for nature watching with the family.

The park also features a range of facilities: a children’s playground, a football pitch, picnic tables, benches and public toilets. Educational display boards help visitors better understand the site’s ecological functioning and the richness of its natural habitats.

A true green lung of Vauvert, the Parc des Aigrettes is the ideal spot for a family stroll, a relaxing break or an exploration of the biodiversity characteristic of the Petite Camargue in the Gard.
