About
Located in a building that was constructed by Doctor Thomas in order to house the collections of natural science that he had assembled over the course of his life. Some of them are nationally recognized. The botanical garden has been recently refurbishedand opened to the public.
Created in the second half of the 19th century when Doctor Philadelphe Thomas (1826-1912) bequeathed his collection to the town, the Museum Of Natural History is Gaillac’s oldest museum. Thomas spent more than half a century studying and establishing his collection and the museum exhibits more than 600 bird specimens, as well as a number of eggs, nests, reptiles, mammals, insects and shells, all in their original display cabinets.
The museum’s garden, which has been recently renovated and which is maintained by the Association Of Friends Of The Gardens, grows aromatic plants and vegetables, while also offering a panoramic view of the town.
