DEPARTMENTAL MUSEUM OF RESISTANCE AND DEPORTATION

TOULOUSE , Haute-Garonne – Cultural heritage

About

The MDR&D is a place for conservation, collection and promotion, but also for encounters, driven by the duty to pass on a collective memory and its values of commitment, through its permanent tour, its temporary exhibitions and its programming.

Reopened in 2020 after 18 months of renovation and extension work, the Musée départemental de la Résistance & de la Déportation offers a 1,000 m² permanent and temporary exhibition on two levels. In addition to the permanent exhibition, it offers a programme of two temporary exhibitions a year on original subjects. The MDR&D is also a place for collecting, preserving and promoting our heritage, as well as a place to meet and reflect, with a rich and eclectic programme of scientific, cultural and artistic events, in the evenings and at weekends, in its conference room and garden. In this way, it fulfils a threefold historical, remembrance and civic mission. Throughout April, accessible digital content (audio descriptions with extracts from testimonies, reading of archives/testimonies and an audio description of posters) will be available on the museum’s website. Free admission, self-guided tours. Guided tours at weekends.
