About

The restoration and extension of the Musée d’Art Hyacinthe Rigaud in 2017 has breathed new life into this two-hundred-year-old museum institution, a veritable pillar of Perpignan’s cultural development. Housed in two sumptuous town houses, the museum offers a rich and varied panorama of the history of art in Perpignan, from the 15th to the 20th century. On entering, visitors are greeted by the Gothic masterpiece of the Trinity Altarpiece. The Baroque period is illustrated by works by Hyacinthe Rigaud, while modern art is centred around such great names as Aristide Maillol, Pablo Picasso, Raoul Dufy, Jean Lurçat and Georges Daniel de Monfreid. The museum regularly organises temporary exhibitions highlighting artists linked to Perpignan, offering a fresh look at the local art scene.
