About

Discover a memorial steeped in history, recalling a concentration camp transformed into a repressive internment camp during the Second World War. Explore the museum in the village square and immerse yourself in this important period in history.

This memorial recalls the existence of a concentration camp for Spanish refugees from February to September 1939, transformed into a repressive internment camp for “undesirable” foreigners during the Second World War until June 1944. 40,000 men of 58 nationalities were interned here. It was also from here that Jewish men, women and children were deported to the extermination camps. The site comprises three areas:- the cemetery, which is open to visitors all year round and is currently being renovated and refurbished,- the railway station, with its “Chevaux 8 Hommes 70” carriage, which is also open to visitors,- the museum, located in the village square, can be visited by contacting the town hall.
