Maison Natale de Jean Moulin
BEZIERS , Hérault – Cultural heritage
About
The hero of the French Resistance was born in Béziers in 1899, in this handsome Haussmann building built at the end of the 19th century at no. 6 rue d’Alsace, where he lived until he passed his baccalauréat.
Today, if you wish, a guided tour by the Béziers Méditerranée Tourist Office will enable you to find out more about Jean Moulin’s youth and, above all, to enter the apartment where the Moulin family lived.
The family apartment is just a stone’s throw from the monument to the Resistance fighters shot by the occupying forces in 1944. And opposite the André Malraux media library.
André Malraux, whose most famous speech was the one he delivered at the entrance of Jean Moulin’s ashes into the Panthéon in 1964: “Enter here Jean Moulin, with your terrible procession…”.
