LE MAJORAT – VISUAL ARTS
VILLENEUVE-TOLOSANE , Haute-Garonne – Cultural heritage
About
This master house situated in Villeneuve-Tolosane is now a cultural space that forms part of the city’s commitment to contemporary creativity.
Constructed around 1750, Le Majorat is one of the most important features of the historic heritage of Villeneuve-Tolosane. The space is dedicated to visual arts, to artistic encounters and clashes. Their aim is to showcase to the wider public the new forms of artistic expression, giving priority to regional artists. Since its renovation, the venue now hosts a 1,320m2 gallery, a school of art, an artist’s workshop, the municipal collection, the town hall’s culture, sport and associative living department and even a hall of honour! Guided visits are offered to the public and to schools by appointment. Access to the gallery’s archive of documents may be authorised by request only.
