LE JARDIN MASSEY

TARBES , Hautes-Pyrénées – Cultural heritage

About

Placide Massey (1777-1853), the king’s landscape gardener, bequeathed to Tarbes an extraordinary garden classified as a “Remarkable Garden” in which you only have to wander through the multicoloured parterres to make a world tour of the most decorative trees.

Massey’s Garden is the Tarbais’ favourite garden. Created by the tarbais Placide Massey, intendant of Queen Hortense during the Empire and Director of the vegetable garden of the Palace of Versailles, this marvellous 11 ha garden is a must during your visit!
The variety of tree species, the cloister with its 40 arcades and historiated capitals, the majestic alleys, the water running through the park and the scent of thousands of flowers will delight the whole family!
The Massey Garden is beautiful in all seasons, it is the ideal place to take a break or enjoy the entertainment offered in the summer.
Your green walk will also take you to the MUSÉE MASSEY, MUSÉE INTERNATIONAL DES HUSSARDS, an old Moorish-style mansion with an observation tower overlooking the Pyrenees, offering the public a modern museum of Art and History.
– A unique collection, witnessing the international history of the hussars
– a fine arts collection, a thematic tour by genre of European painting from the 15th to the 20th century Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
