About

Strolling along its narrow streets and steep lanes, this atypical village reveals an unexpected heritage and a history intimately linked to the river Lot. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme

Set between the river Lot and the rock, the small village of Laroque-Bouillac, dominated by the remains of its feudal castle, offers an unexpected discovery.
Here, you needn’t be afraid to step under porches or between houses to reach the narrow streets and path that dominates the village and offers panoramic views over the rooftops and the Lot valley.
The most courageous will climb the stairs leading to the watchtower of the ancient château and the remains of the Romanesque chapel. The present-day church, built in the 18th century and named “la chapelle des gabariers” by local residents, pays tribute to the Laroque-Bouillac sailors of the last century. Among the treasures to be discovered in the church are a 15th-century processional cross, a 19th-century altarpiece and a tryptic by painter-sculptor Hervé Vergnes on the history of the village. An audio guide at the entrance to the church tells its story. Signs mark out a tour of the village.

For the more curious, the tourist office offers guided tours from April to October, with access to the entire church as a bonus. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
