As a local cultural facility, it serves to raise awareness, provide information, and offer training to all audiences about the architecture and heritage of the city. A key to understanding our rich history, it provides a space for gatherings and information on the urban development of the city over the centuries, as well as ongoing contemporary urban or landscape development projects. Explore three exhibition rooms that trace the history of Gourdon, showcasing its heritage and notable figures. Experience 3D reconstructions of historical houses and enjoy temporary exhibitions.This large weavers workshop opens on to the street with 2 large Gothic arches and majestic curved mullioned windows (16thC) above. At the back, a tower joins 2 medieval houses originally seperated by a firebreak alley. This medieval dwelling is a perfect illustration of the rich history of the old town. A Senechal is a royal administrator. He has inspired the name of the house but probably lived in another house closer to the council chamber. Built according to the tastes of the Renaissance revealing trappings of a noble house converted in the 16th and 17th C with a refined spiral staircase, spacious rooms with French-style ceilings and painted fireplaces…
