Jardin Toscan

ALBAS , Lot – Cultural heritage

About

The idea of a Tuscan garden in the ancient episcopal city of Albas was a natural one. In the Middle Ages, Albas was influenced by the bishop Antoine de Luzech. During his frequent stays in Italy, especially in Florence, he introduced architectural elements from the Italian Renaissance into the castles, churches and cloisters that he built along the Lot valley. Initiated by the Albas Patrimoine association led by the writer Jean-Pierre Alaux, and beautifully lit at night, this garden overlooking the river, below the episcopal palace (the current town hall), is a place of contemplation, meditation and entertainment, hosting concerts and conferences.
