Jardin des évêques
BEZIERS , Hérault – Cultural heritage
About
At the foot of the cathedral and beneath the cloister, this terraced garden slopes gently down to the Orb. It overlooks the entire surrounding landscape, from the Mediterranean to the Minervois hills and the Canal du Midi. Conceived as one of those famous “broderies” known as “à la française”, the garden was a haven of peace and serenity, created by the last bishop of Béziers, Mgr de Nicolaï, shortly before the French Revolution. He bequeathed it to the people of Béziers.
