The estate has existed since at least the 13th century. It seems that it was a member of a family linked to the cathedral chapter who had the present complex built around 1661 (this date appears on the door lintel). Although the west wing was rebuilt following a fire, the residence has a homogeneous dwelling characteristic of the 17th century: a round tower, topped with a flattened pepperpot roof above a crown of machicolations, flanks a main building whose floors are highlighted by a flat band. The builder’s coat of arms is displayed on the entrance door
The castle rises in the middle of the pastures, in edge of a very old road which, through the causse of Sauveterre, connects the valleys of the Tarn and the Lot but also Chanac with Florac. It ensured the control of this major axis between Languedoc and Auvergne
NOT TO BE VISITED. The interior is private, however you can see this imposing residence from the road. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
