Set into a block of rock, this church is extraordinary and mysterious.
After more than two years of restoration and safety work, the church in Vals is once again open to the public from Monday 21 July 2025. For the time being, the building will be open daily from 10am to 5pm.
These times are subject to change throughout the year.
Inside, you can admire some superb Romanesque frescoes of Catalan origin. The frescoes date from the 12th century and are similar to those in neighbouring Spanish Catalonia. Three periods in the life of Jesus are illustrated. The construction of this church on three levels is what makes it so original.
