About

Barèges, a former place called Betpouey, had a chapel in the 16th century: Santa Magdalena deth banh. Located near the thermal baths, it was restored in 1600, then demolished in 1845. The current church dedicated to Mary Magdalene was built in 1846 on a communal plot of land and restored after a fire around 1900. Modern, it houses the holy water font of the hermitage of Saint-Justin, above the village. The barracks also had a chapel.
