In 1081, the monks of Serrabone founded a priory of Augustinian canons in Espira. The priory quickly grew in size and had a major influence on the Conflent region. It is a Romanesque building with a single nave covered by a pointed barrel vault with no transoms. The church contains a wealth of Baroque furnishings. The greatest Baroque sculptors worked here between 1663 and 1723. The church is open on request.
