ÉGLISE SAINT MATTHIEU DE GÈDRE
GEDRE , Hautes-Pyrénées – Cultural heritage
About
The church of Gèdre, built at the end of the 19th century in the neo-gothic style, does not offer much interest, except for its stoup made of local stone. It is dedicated to Saint Matthew. It was erected near the site of an old church with a tower that belonged to the Hospitallers of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, with a number of “metteries” (farms); church consecrated in 1628, which probably replaced an even older church on this secondary road to Santiago. The furniture: altarpiece, tabernacle… has disappeared.
Daily opening all year long.
