About
The church of Saint-Martin de Saint-Martin-de-Londres is a jewel of Languedoc Romanesque art, built between the late 11th and early 12th centuries. It is distinguished by its cloverleaf plan, unique in Languedoc, with three semicircular apses forming a three-lobed chevet. Its architecture is influenced by the Byzantine style, particularly evident in the 15-meter-high central dome. The church’s exterior features Lombardy bands, a raised base and round arches grouped in threes, characteristic of Romanesque art. The 13th-century southern portal features a Gothic statue of Saint Martin sharing his cloak.
