SAINT-JULIEN CHURCH

RIEUTORT-DE-RANDON , Lozère – Cultural heritage

About

The village’s former Romanesque church was destroyed during the French Revolution. The current building was erected in the 19th century and is constructed of large granite blocks. Seven bays long, the church features an imposing three-tiered bell tower on its west facade, notable for its spire-roofed tower housing a staircase. Inside, the nave is three-aisled, with the two side aisles ending in chapels. The baptistery chapel contains a large painting of the Holy Family and a baptismal font sculpted with geometric patterns. The semicircular apse of the chancel houses a painting of Saint Ferréol.
