The church of Fontanes dates from the 13th century and is dedicated to Saint Julien. Its architecture was transformed during the 17th and 19th centuries. Its facade, to the west, consists of a bell tower-wall, with two bays, housing among other things a bell dated 1663 and decorated with shields and legends and a portal with capitals and arched arches.
Inside, the nave is vaulted with a semicircular barrel vault and is flanked by two side chapels. The southern chapel is the more remarkable of the two for its wall paintings. The characteristic feature of this church is a 17th century statue of Christ. It is said to be the work of an Italian shepherd who carved it with a knife. The choir has an eight-sided apse.
