The church in Alban is surprisingly modern; it houses a listed Romanesque cross, a 15th century gilded wooden Virgin Mary, and a beautiful, finely sculpted portal. Inside, a large fresco representing Christ in majesty serves as a backdrop to a magnificent gilded and chiselled wooden altar; all around the building, paintings of the Stations of the Cross painted on parchment and, as a crowning glory, the beautiful vault decorated with frescoes by Nicolaï Greschny.
