About
Historic monument of the 11th century. Romanesque church, former priory of the Benedictine monastery in the village of Saint-Martin-de-Celle which became Maubourguet in the 12th century. This monastic installation was located on one of the 4 main pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. The Romanesque church has the rich particularity of possessing numerous ramparts of ancient and early medieval architectural elements.
Inscribed on the inventory of Historic Monuments at the beginning of the 20th century, it is now classified as a Historic Monument since March 21, 1979.
