Registered on the Historical Monuments list since 1931, the church Notre Dame de Barre-des-Cévennes, former priory church of Notre Dame de l’Assomption, is a Roman edifice from the 12th century. It was built with limestone and was rearranged several times without losing its harmony and elegance. Many extensions were progressively made in the only nave, with a round vault… Large mullion windows in a Gothic style lighting up the chapels built along the centuries have succeeded the Romanesque austerity and sobriety… Only the radiating chapel with a semi-dome apse adorned with a corniche and modillions, kept a Romanesque style…
