Château de la Rabasse

REMOULINS , Gard – Cultural heritage

About

Charles Faret, seigneur de Saint-Privat et de Fournès, built this château around 1638, on the site of a fortified castle. After several families, the Faret family owned the property until the mid-19th century.

It takes its name from its first owners, the lords of Remoulins. By succession, it passed to the Laudun family and the Guerry family, lords of Fournès. The building comprises a Renaissance main building flanked at each corner by a pentagonal pepperbox turret. The main façade features an entrance door framed with diamond-cut stones and topped by a pediment with a central pointed arch. Mullioned windows. The interior features a Renaissance fireplace and French ceilings.
