Château de Garrigues Sainte-Eulalie

GARRIGUES-SAINTE-EULALIE , Gard – Cultural heritage

About

Former fortified castle (possibly 12th century) of which little remains and few documents: tall square tower long since converted into a dovecote / section of crenellation / trace of a pepperpot tower.
Dominant position at the top of the village.

It must have had ramparts, moats, towers, etc., but it was dismantled either in the mid-17th century when the château was sold to the viguier Antoine Malarte, a bourgeois from Uzès, or during the Revolution… On an 1830 image, no feudal remains are visible. It was transformed into a middle-class house.
