Bunkers 638 et 610

1942, faced with the Allies in North Africa, Hitler ordered the end of the Demarcation Line and the construction of the Mediterranean Wall. Of the hundred or so bunkers built at Agde, 30 remain at the Site des Bunkers de La Tamarissière, defending the area from a possible Allied landing in Occitanie.

Among them are 638, a 220m² German field hospital, and 610, a 200m² command and decision-making post. You’ll discover how these two renovated buildings functioned, and understand their construction and equipment through the elements that the association has been able to recover.
An exhibition on the major themes of the conflict in a local version is also on offer: German organization, life in the bunkers, the situation of the people of Agatha under occupation, and the stages of reopening and restoration.

Accès : From the Front de Mer – Antoine Groignard car park (610 is in the second part of the car park), it is about a 300-metre walk between the two bunkers through the back of the dunes (sandy terrain). Visual landmark: Bunker 610 is at the end of the car park, and 638 is 50 metres from the water tower.
