Protected as a historical monument, the Benedictine abbey of Saint Sever De Rustan is mentioned for the first time in an 11th century document. The architecture of this abbey located at the gates of the Bigorre, shows the turbulent history of the region: from Romanesque capitals to Gothic vaults, classical facades to the splendor of Baroque woodwork, the abbey of Saint-Sever-de-Roustan reaches us, through destructions and reconstructions, like a true condensed history of art! The abbey is also known for its cloister «relocated» in the nineteenth century, whose capitals were reused on the cloister of the garden Massey de Tarbes.
