REFUGE DU PORTILLON

About

The Portillon refuge, located near the lake of the same name, is the ideal place for high mountain enthusiasts. The 4.5-hour climb, crossing all the mountain levels on an old mule track that is well marked and paved in places, can be punctuated by stops at the Lac d’Oô refuge and then at the Espingo refuge. Those spending their first night in a refuge will discover the mountain atmosphere in a comfortable and welcoming setting. Experienced hikers and mountaineers appreciate its location as a base camp in the heart of a cirque of 12 peaks over 3,000 metres high. Mountaineers have a wide choice of ridges and granite faces.
