REFUGE DE TUQUEROUYE

GEDRE , Hautes-Pyrénées – Rental accommodation

About

The highest refuge in the Pyrenees, it is also its oldest (it was built in 1890).

From the Tuquerouye gap on which the refuge is perched, the view of the icy lake and the imposing north face of Mont Perdu suddenly and theatrically reveals itself to those arriving from France. It is an exceptional site for many reasons: geological, geographical, naturalistic, historical… .

Common room with two wooden tables. A stove in the common room, hatchet and saw. Stock of wood, stashed under the bunks. Mattresses and blankets. No running water: go down to the icy lake (15min) No openings other than the front door, the fireplace and a tiny window with shutter on the north side.
