ORGANIC FARMING Bienvenue à la Ferme” network Guide du Routard 2021 Marie-Claire and François welcome you to Montesquieu Volvestre (45 km south of Toulouse, A64 exit 27) to their authentic 18th-century family farm, with organic farming and sheep rearing, facing the Pyrenees, beside a river, not far from the Gallic village of St Julien (archaeological site) and the Via Garona GR on the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela.

45 km south of Toulouse, in the peace and quiet of the countryside, not far from the A64 motorway, at the crossroads of the Haute-Garonne and Ariège departments, on the route to Santiago de Compostela and the GR “Via Garona”, Montesquieu-Volvestre (13th-century bastide, fortified church, arcades and Place de la Halle) is situated in the Arize valley on the road to St-Girons and Foix (Ariège), between the Village Gaulois (St Julien cultural park) and the prehistoric cave of Mas d’Azil, between a medieval village (Rieux-Volvestre, ranked 100 most beautiful villages in France, Michelin guide 2019) and the Pyrenean Piedmont, at the crossroads of numerous cultural and tourist destinations: Cathar castles, Toulouse, Canal du Midi, Saint-Lizier, Niaux caves and Prehistory Park, Aurignac Prehistoric Museum, St-Bertrand de Comminges, Lourdes, “Via Garona”, hiking in the Pyrenees, etc…
Ferme Montplaisir will be the starting point for your many discoveries.
On site, you can fish in the river, enjoy the swimming pool, play boules or table tennis or follow our cycle paths (Garonne cycle route) or footpaths (GR “Via Garona”).
In the surrounding area (3 to 5 km), you can enjoy tennis, pétanque, horse-riding, hiking and cultural trails. Gaulish village, astronomical observations, donkey rides, prehistory park, etc….
