A Journey into the Heart of the Marine World
The Seaquarium Marine Institute, a science education center, offers a fascinating immersion into the marine world through an interactive experience designed to inspire wonder, foster learning, and raise awareness. Throughout the visit, guests discover the diversity of marine habitats and the species that inhabit them, while gaining an understanding of the challenges facing the oceans.
Among the highlights of the visit, the underwater tunnel offers a spectacular experience, allowing visitors to observe fish, rays, and sharks as if they were swimming right in the heart of their natural habitat. The guided feeding sessions for seals and sea lions also offer special opportunities to better understand these marine mammals and the daily work of the animal care staff.
The tour is organized around several themed areas:
• The Mediterranean Area
• The Tropical Zone
• The Underwater Tunnel
• The Marine Mammal Area—including the outdoor viewing stands and the “Zen Otarie”: an underwater view of marine mammals
• The Requinarium, a space spanning over 1,000 m² dedicated to sharks, rays, and chimaeras
• The educational tank dedicated to Marine Protected Areas
• Exhibition and marine environmental awareness areas created by the scientific outreach team, located throughout the visitor route
• The ethical gift shop offering a variety of eco-friendly items and regional products from the Camargue area.
Understanding to Take Better Action
At the Seaquarium Marine Institute, each space is designed to foster discovery and understanding of the marine world. Exhibits, interactive displays, activities, and science outreach address a wide range of topics: marine biodiversity, species protection, the role of sharks in ecosystems, climate change, ocean pollution, and the preservation of natural habitats.
The exhibit dedicated to Marine Protected Areas highlights the essential role these zones play in safeguarding marine ecosystems and preserving biodiversity.
