About
The prieuré de Montézargues is a winegrowing estate with a 32-hectare vineyard. Its wines are the only ones, along with those of Clos-Vougeot, to have been identified as having been present on the papal table during the Avignon papacy.
The prieuré vineyard, managed by Guillaume Dugas since 2003, currently covers 32 hectares. It produces mainly Tavel on a terroir composed mainly of sand. These light, filtering soils give the wine finesse and elegance. The grape varieties are Grenache (55%), Cinsault (30%) and Clairette (13%). Syrah, mourvèdre, carignan and bourboulenc2 account for 2%.
