Le Mazelet – Domaine Viticole

About

A small 17-hectare vineyard, 6 hectares of which are organic, nestled in the foothills of the Cévennes National Park. Taste our organic wines and olive oil among the vines.

The six hectares of organic vines are planted with red grapes (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and new plantings of Cinsault and Pinot noir) and white grapes (new plantings of Viognier, Grenache blanc and Vermentino). To promote biodiversity and quality, every other row of vines is grassed. No herbicides or pesticides are used, and the addition of copper sulfate and sulfur is limited.

Their philosophy is to stay as close to nature as possible, both in viticulture and vinification. All grapes are selected and hand-picked in the vineyard. The wine is matured in the Mazelet cellars from the spontaneous fermentation of indigenous yeasts. By preparing a pre-culture (“pied de cuve”) just before harvest and regulating the temperature, an efficient and controlled primary fermentation is ensured. All wines are bottled on the estate.

Apart from a few special cuvées, we aim to produce fruity, full-bodied wines, with spicy, blackcurrant aromas typical of the Languedoc region.

All our wines benefit from the Protected Geographical Indication vin de pays des Cévennes.
