The Vieux Foudres estate is located on the slopes of the Cévennes foothills. It produces quality IGP d’Oc wines, but is particularly renowned for its production of Cartagène.
This family-run estate has long made a name for itself around cartagena.
Cartagène is a festive aperitif drink from the Languedoc region of France. It’s a blend of fresh grape must and wine brandy. Each producer jealously guards his family recipe. Cartafigue won a gold medal in the 2025 Militant du goût competition.
Cartafigue is available in white, rosé or amber, depending on the grape variety used to make it. Traditionally served as an aperitif, cartagène can also be served with foie gras, or with Roquefort cheese, for an aged cartagène.
