Domaine de Cauviac

QUISSAC , Gard

About

Domaine de Cauviac isn’t a place like any other, it’s a family estate where generations have succeeded one another since 1524, located between Quissac and Sauve. The vineyard covers 30 hectares.

The estate, which dates back to 1524, has seen 13 generations of passionate winegrowers, who also worked cereal fields and raised silkworms (a common practice in the region for decades, to supplement what could have been uncertain farm incomes).

Facing east, the vines grow on clayey marl soils, which enable us to harvest healthy, ripe grapes to produce generous, fruity, well-balanced wines.

The main grape varieties for reds are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. For rosés, Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, and for whites, Chardonnay, Viognier and Sauvignon.

IGP OC and IGP Cévennes wines are harvested, vinified and packaged on the estate. Ploughing, leaf thinning and harvesting are carried out with respect for tradition and the environment.
