The plateau overlooking the Lot valley once produced a wine whose reputation extended as far as the Americas. A wine black as ink, powerful, full of flavour… Once the Malbec vines which produced it had been destroyed by phylloxera, this variety was replanted down in the more fertile soils of the valley below. A handful of winegrowers decided to set out to recolonise the forgotten vineyard area. At the Château Lacapelle Cabanac, on the calcareous clay soils of the limestone plateau, Cahors wine has at last come home….. The domain has been under organic cultivation since 2002.
